Maryland backup quarterback Caleb Rowe will miss the rest of the season after tearing the ACL in his left knee during practice on Tuesday, according to reports.

Rowe has passed for 489 yards and five touchdowns with four interceptions in relief of starter C.J. Brown this season.

Rowe, who is expected to take over for Brown as the starter next year, tore the same ligament as a true freshman in a 2012 game against Boston College

With Rowe out, redshirt sophomore Perry Hills will serve as the backup to Brown. Maryland (4-2) hosts Iowa on Saturday.
