Mississippi State remains No. 1 in AP Poll after bye, Florida State No. 2

Mississippi State remained at No. 1 in the Week 9 AP Poll released Sunday.
The Bulldogs garnered 43 first-place votes, enough to finish 47 points ahead of No. 2 Florida State. Mississippi State had a bye this weekend, while Florida State defeated then-No. 5 Notre Dame, 31-27.

Four of the top five teams in the Week 9 poll are from the SEC, with Ole Miss, Alabama and Auburn rounding out the top five, respectively. The Irish dropped to No. 7 with the loss.
Texas A&M, which got shutout 59-0 by Alabama, dropped out of the AP Poll for the first time this season. Baylor dropped to No. 12 after losing 41-27 to now-No. 22 West Virginia, and Oklahoma dropped to No. 17 following a loss to now-No. 11 Kansas State.

Mississippi State (6-0), Florida State (7-0), Ole Miss (7-0) and No. 23 Marshall of Conference USA (7-0) are the only undefeated FBS teams left this season.
The Bulldogs also topped the Week 9 Coaches' Poll, with FSU, Ole Miss, Alabama and Michigan State rounding out the top five, respectively.
