Four-star guard Kerwin Roach Jr. commits to Texas
Four-Star guard Kerwin Roach Jr. verbally committed to the Texas Longhorns Friday, according to Evan Daniels of ScoutHoops.
Roach was deciding between Texas, California and Wichita State.
The 6'3, 160-pounder is a combo guard from North Shore High in Houston. Proximity to home was one of the reasons for his commitment.
"It's so close to home," Roach told Trey Scott of 24/7 Sports. "It's good to have a powerhouse school in the state, where your family can go see you play.
"It would be great. They could go see me play and come check on me whenever."
Gerry Hamilton of ESPN.com was on hand to capture the commitment.
According to 24/7 Sports' composite rankings, Roach is the country's 21st ranked shooting guard prospect, the seventh-ranked prospect from the state and the 71st-ranked prospect in the class of 2015.
Roach is the second commitment for Texas in the class of 2015, joining another four-star guard, Eric Davis of Saginaw, Mich.
