Report: SMU's Ben Emelogu gets waiver to play 2014-15 season
SMU sophomore guard Ben Emelogu has received an NCAA waiver that makes him eligible to play this season, reports CBSSports' Jon Rothstein.
Emelogu transferred to SMU from Virginia Tech in July. He averaged 10.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists as a freshman for the Hokies and was a team captain.
Virginia Tech fired head coach James Johnson in March, and hired Buzz Williams from Marquette just days later.

Emelogu is a 6-foot-6 shooting guard from Grand Prairie, Texas and attended high school less than 30 miles away from Southern Methodist.
The Mustangs went 27-10 last season in Larry Brown's second year as head coach. They reached the NIT championship game before falling to Minnesota.
SMU is ranked No. 22 in the preseason Coaches Poll. Its first game is on Nov. 14 against Lamar.
