Charlie Strong disappointed with Texas Longhorns' 3-5 start

Texas head coach Charlie Strong said he is "frustrated and disappointed" in the team's performance during his first season as head coach, Bob Ballou of CBS Austin reports.
Strong replaced former head coach Mack Brown, and Texas has gone 3-5 this season, including a 23-0 loss to Kansas State last week.
"We're sitting here 3-5 - that's not acceptable within this program. Frustrated and disappointed," Strong said, via

. "We are a better football team than a 3-5 football team. The record doesn't show that, but we are a better team than that.
"Me personally, I don't think I've done a great job because we wouldn't be 3-5 if I had."

The Longhorns' defense is ranked No. 35 in the nation, allowing only 348.9 yards per game. The offense, however, ranks No. 106, averaging 348.3 yards per game.
Texas has four games remaining this season as it attempts to become bowl eligible, with Texas Tech, West Virginia, Oklahoma State and TCU on the schedule.
