Louisville Cardinals vs. Boston College Eagles

Louisville looks to rebound from a disappointing defeat when it travels to Boston College on Saturday. The Cardinals nearly knocked off heavyweight Florida State last Thursday but ultimately fell 42-31, while the Eagles defeated Virginia Tech 33-31 for their second straight win.

The teams are right next to each other in the ACC Atlantic, with Boston College (3-2) in third place over fourth-place Louisville (4-3) by percentage points.

10/30: Florida State 42, Louisville 31

The Cardinals led by 21 in the second quarter, the largest deficit Florida State has faced the last two seasons. They intercepted Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston three times, the highest single-game total of his career. Louisville allowed 574 yards of total offense, the most it has allowed since 2012. The Cardinals were just 1-for-11 on third downs offensively.

10/18: Louisville 30, NC State 18

Running back Michael Dyer led the way for the Cardinals, with 173 rushing yards on 24 carries. His touchdown with 44 seconds remaining put the game out of reach. It was Dyer's first 100-yard game with Louisville after recording ten such games in two seasons with Auburn. Senior receiver DeVante Parker, who tied a school record with 12 touchdowns last season, made his season debut after being held out previously with a foot injury. He caught nine passes for 132 yards, including a 37-yard grab on his first snap of the season.

10/11: Clemson 23, Louisville 17

The Cardinals nearly upended the Tigers in Death Valley with a last-minute comeback attempt. Louisville started its final drive of the game deep in its own territory, trailing by six with 1:20 left to play. Will Gardner found James Quick for a 73-yard completion on the first play of the drive to give Louisville a first-and-goal at the Clemson 8-yard line, but the Cardinals couldn't find the end zone and turned the ball over on downs. 

10/3: Louisville 28, Syracuse 6

The Cardinal defense recorded two safeties and had two interceptions. Brandon Radcliff ran for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Louisville came into the game with the best rushing defense in the nation, allowing 58.2 yards per game. They held the Orange to 59 yards on the ground.

9/27: Louisville 20, Wake Forest 10

The Cardinals rallied with 13 points in the fourth quarter, taking the lead for good on a 16-yard run by Brandon Radcliff with 11:41 remaining in regulation. Louisville has forced 13 turnovers in five games, the most at this point in the season since the 2005 team had 14. The Cardinals held Wake Forest to minus-22 yards rushing, the fewest allowed since holding Grambling to minus-56 in 2000.

9/20: Louisville 34, FIU 3

Running back Michael Dyer saw his first action of the season after missing the first three games with an injured quad. He had 16 yards on eight carries. Wide receiver James Quick had a career-high 174 yards receiving on seven catches, the most receiving yards for a Louisville player since Arnold Jackson had 174 against Cincinnati in 1999. Safety GerodHolliman had two interceptions for the second straight game and has five on the season.

9/13: Virginia 23, Louisville 21

The Cavaliers won the game on Ian Frye’s 42-yard field goal with 3:41 to go. Louisville went three-and-out and punted from its own three-yard line with 2:38 left, but never got the ball back. The Cardinals’ eight-game winning streak -- the second-longest in the nation -- was snapped with the loss.

9/6: Louisville 66, Murray State 21

The Cardinals’ 45 points in the first half were their most in an opening half since scoring 49 against Murray State in 2007. Louisville had six rushing touchdowns and had two players -- Reggie Bonnafon and Brandon Radcliff -- with at least two apiece for the first time since 2006. The Cardinals rushed for 325 yards, their highest total since 2008.

9/1: Louisville 31, Miami 13

Louisville is now 2-3 in its first-ever game in a new conference. The Cardinals beat Temple last year in their American Athletic Conference debut. The Cardinals haven’t allowed a first-quarter touchdown in 15 straight games. Dominique Brown rushed for a career-high 143 yards and scored a touchdown on a career-best 33 carries.

Boston College

11/1: Boston College 33, Virginia Tech 31

Quarterback Tyler Murphy broke Doug Flutie's school record for career rushing yards by a quarterback by running for 122 yards on 18 carries, increasing his career total to 965. The Eagles improved to 4-0 on the road and 3-0 on the road in conference play, winning three ACC road games for the first time since 2008. Boston College blocked a field goal for the first time since 2012.

10/25: Boston College 23, Wake Forest 17

The Eagles lost a fumble for just the second time this season. Freshman running back Jon Hilliman had 101 yards on 20 carries, and his 33-yard touchdown run was his longest scoring play of the season. Sophomore defensive end Kevin Kavalec led the team with a career-high 10 tackles, including 4.5 tackles for loss.

10/18: Clemson 17, Boston College 13

The Eagles lost to Clemson for the fourth straight time. Tyler Murphy was held without a rushing touchdown for the first time this season as Boston College had its fewest points, rushing yards and total yards of 2014. The Eagles defense, though, held Clemson to its lowest points total of the season as well.

10/11: Boston College 30, NC State 14

Boston College got back into the win column with a convincing win over the Wolfpack. Tyler Murphy had another outstanding day, passing for 101 yards, while also leading the way on the ground with 132 yards on 15 carries with two scores. The Boston College defense held NC State to just 217 yards of offense. 

9/27: Colorado State 24, Boston College 21

The Eagles suffered their second loss of the season with a defeat to the Rams. Boston College held the lead with 1:02 to go in the game until a 12-yard touchdown pass from Garrett Greyson put them away. The standout on offense for BC in this one was Jon Hillman, who rushed for 128 yards on 24 carries with two touchdowns. 

9/20: Boston College 40, Maine 10

The Eagles relied on their strong rushing attack to blow out Maine. Quarterback Tyler Murphy recorded 229 total yards (99 rushing) and three total touchdowns (one passing, two rushing), while Marcus Outlow had 107 yards on the ground and Jon Hilliman added 98 receiving yards and two touchdowns. 

9/13: Boston College 37, USC 31

After giving up more than 300 total yards in Week 2, Boston College turned the tables and held USC to 20 yards on the ground while rushing for 452 of its own. Tyler Murphy ran for 191 yards and a touchdown, while Myles Willis and Jon Hilliman rushed for 89 yards a piece. Hilliman added two touchdowns on the ground. 

9/5: Pittsburgh 30, Boston College 20

Boston College was overwhelmed by the Pitt rushing attack, which was led by James Conner's 214 yards. Tyler Murphy put together another all-around performance for the Eagles with 226 total yards and two touchdowns. 

8/30: Boston College 30, Massachusetts 7

Tyler Murphy led the way for Boston College with 173 yards, one touchdown and one interception through the air, along with 118 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Sophomore running back Tyler Rouse had 87 rushing yards of his own, while Josh Bordner was the team's leading receiver with 81 yards and a touchdown.
