Miami tight end Clive Walford will undergo surgery on his knee on Wednesday, the program confirmed to the South Florida Sun Sentinel on Tuesday.

Earlier Tuesday, the Sun Sentinel reported that Walford injured his knee in Miami's season-ending loss to Pittsburgh last Saturday and that he needed surgery to repair his MCL. According to the report, Walford would have to rehab for two months and would thus miss the team's bowl game and the Senior Bowl, though it was hoped he'd be able to return in time for the NFL combine in February.

It's unclear when Walford injured his knee in the 35-23 loss to the Panthers. He caught four passes for 49 yards in the game.

Walford, a senior, leads Miami in receptions (31) and is second on the team in receiving yards (676) and touchdowns (seven).

Walford was named second-team All-ACC on Monday. With his performance against Pitt, Walford passed Kellen Winslow Jr. to become Miami's all-time leader in receiving yards for a tight end with 1,753.

Miami finished the regular season 6-6, including a 3-5 ACC record. The team's bowl game is yet to be determined.
