Lauren Hill, a 19-year-old basketball player for Mount Saint Joseph University battling brain cancer, scored Saturday for the first time at her team's home arena. The game was Hill's third this season, but her first at the Harrington Center on the school's Cincinnati campus.

"This was my dream, to score on this floor, and it felt amazing," Hill told Cincinnati NBC affiliate WLWT.

"Lauren gets us through it. Her smile, her coming here energizes her teammates. And she knows that, and it's vice versa," said her coach, Dan Benjamin.

Doctors had estimated Hill would not live long enough to be able to play in the game, the team's first regular season home contest.

Earlier this month, Hill's parents announced they had signed their daughter up for hospice care. Hill has a cancerous brain tumor that is inoperable. Doctors have told her they do not expect her to live beyond the end of the year.

Earlier this year, Mount Saint Joseph's petitioned the NCAA to move the team's first game of the season against Hiram College --originally scheduled for Nov. 15 -- to Nov. 2 in order to increase the likelihood of Hill being able to play. Hill scored on the first play of that game.
