BYU's Tyler Haws, nation's third-leading scorer, out two weeks

Haws, a senior, sprained his left ankle during Saturday's win over Weber State. He scored 19 points before leaving with the injury in the second half. Head coach Dave Rose said the goal is for Haws to be ready for BYU's first conference game against Gonzaga on Dec. 27, but he could return sooner.

Haws is averaging 23.8 points per game, behind only Iona's A.J. English and UNC Asheville's Andrew Rowsey, who are each scoring 24.4 points per game. Haws is shooting 49.7 percent from the field, 90.1 percent on free throws and 43.4 percent on three-pointers.

Haws finished No. 6 in scoring last season at 23.4 points per game. He just missed the top 10 in his sophomore season when he averaged 20.9 points en route to finishing No. 11 in the country.

While Haws is one of the country's best scorers, BYU has three other players averaging double-digits in Chase Fischer (13.9 ppg), Anson Winder (13.4 ppg) and Kyle Collinsworth (12.4).

The Cougars host Stanford on Saturday and Massachusetts on Dec. 23 before opening conference play against Gonzaga.
