LSU coach Les Miles said that he has not been contacted by Michigan officials about their vacant head football coaching position and is not a candidate for the job.

Miles did not want to be quoted directly when reporters asked him specifically about the Michigan job but was clear about his intentions of not leaving LSU. He said he would not be interested in the job even if Michigan did contact him.

Michigan is seeking to replace Brady Hoke, who was fired two weeks ago after going 31-20 in his four seasons at the school. The Wolverines finished this season 5-7, the school’s first losing record since 2009.

Miles, who is 103-28 in 10 seasons at LSU, had his contract extended two years when Arkansas was seeking to hire him at the end of the 2012 season.

Miles said he wanted to talk about his team’s bowl preparation instead of his job status with the school. The Tigers play Notre Dame in the Music City Bowl on Dec. 30.

"I enjoy the players, these guys I'm capable of coaching," Miles said to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "There's a tradition and a culture here we've kind of established. The young men that come in here really enjoy stepping into this room and being a part of that culture."
