Reports: Co-OC/receivers coach Jay Norvell out at Oklahoma
Oklahoma co-offensive coordinator and receivers coach Jay Norvell is out of his job, according to multiple reports, including SI's Thayer Evans. FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman was the first to report the news.
Norvell has been with the Sooners since 2008, serving as assistant offensive coordinator and receivers coach his first three seasons at the school before becoming co-OC at the end of the 2010 season. Josh Heupel, a former quarterback at Oklahoma, has been co-OC with Norvell since 2011.
Oklahoma ranked 24th in the country in total offense this season, averaging 465 yards per game, and was tied for 19th in scoring offense, averaging 36.2 points per game.
After being picked by many outlets in the preseason as one of the top teams in the nation, Oklahoma had a disappointing 8-5 season, finishing with a 40-6 loss to Clemson in the Russell Athletic Bowl.

Oklahoma had its fewest wins in a season since it also went 8-5 in 2009. FOX Sports reported at least two other significant changes will be made to head coach Bob Stoops' staff in the wake of the subpar year.
Before arriving at Oklahoma, Norvell was an assistant for multiple college and NFL teams, most recently serving as UCLA's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2007.
