Former Iowa State wide receiver P.J. Harris was charged with domestic assault/strangulation on Thursday, according to a report from the Ames Tribune.

Police records show that Harris was arrested late on Thursday. From the Ames Tribune report:

Harris was charged at 10:48 p.m. on Thursday, according to Ames arrest records. The incident between Harris and the victim occurred on Thursday morning, according to Ames Cmdr. Jason Tuttle. The two got into an argument when the victim went to Harris’ apartment at 4503 Twain Circle, Apt. 306. Harris allegedly pushed the victim onto a wall, threw the victim down on a bed and strangled the victim with his hands, Tuttle said.

A police report was filed on Thursday night. The victim didn’t currently live with Harris, but had within the last year, a requirement for the domestic assault charges, Tuttle said.

A team spokesman told the paper that Harris was dismissed from the team on Jan. 13.

Last season Harris, a redshirt sophomore, caught nine passes for 55 yards over three games before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
