Illinois quarterback Aaron Bailey to transfer
Illinois backup quarterback Aaron Bailey has elected to transfer, the school announced on Thursday.
In 14 games over two seasons with the Illini, Bailey completed 13 of his 27 pass attempts for 122 yards with two touchdowns and an interception while also adding 203 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
When he signed with Illinois out of Bolingbrook (Ill.) High School in 2013, Bailey was rated the No. 9 dual-threat quarterback and No. 159 player in the class of 2013.
"I would like to thank the coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to come to a great University," Bailey said in a statement. "I also want to thank my teammates, my brothers. I can honestly say that I felt I had a personal relationship with every single player. I love those guys and they made it very difficult to leave. Finally, I would like to thank Illini Nation for receiving me with open arms. It's unfortunate that it didn't work out at Illinois, and I hope for the best for the program going forward."
Illinois went 6-7 last season.
