Jackson, 35, had coached wide receivers for the Wolfpack the last two seasons until George McDonald abruptly replaced him early last month. Jackson succeeds Adam DiMichele, who is moving to an off-field role for Temple after coaching the program’s wide receivers for the first time this past season.

Prior to North Carolina State, Jackson was wide receivers coach at Northern Illinois (2012), Akron (2010-11) and Western Illinois (2008-09). An undrafted free agent, he was a receiver for the NFL's Cleveland Browns from 2002-05.

A Chicago native, Jackson also played wide receiver at Western Illinois from 2000-01 after spending three seasons as a quarterback at Northern Illinois. He joins a Temple program that had an impressive 6-6 record this past season under rising third-year coach Matt Rhule.

The Owls return nearly 20 starters, including starting junior quarterback P.J. Walker and senior linebacker Tyler Matakevich, a first-team American Athletic Conference selection.
