Former Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis said it is "highly doubtful" that he will ever coach again.

Weis was fired from Kansas in September after posting a 6-22 record in three-plus seasons at the school.

"I think it’s highly doubtful that I will ever coach again,” Weis said to the South Bend Tribune.

Before taking the Kansas job, Weis was the offensive coordinator for Florida and the Kansas City Chiefs and spent five seasons as head coach at Notre Dame, taking the team to three bowl appearances. He was also the offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots' first three Super Bowl victories before taking the Notre Dame job.

Weis, 57, had a 41-49 record in eight seasons as a collegiate head coach.

Notre Dame will continue to pay Weis through December, and Kansas still owns him around $7 million.

Weis says he won't miss being in the spotlight. He also said that he is not mad at Notre Dame or Kansas, but wishes he "could have lasted longer" with the Irish.

“I do care about that. And some of the way I was portrayed was my own fault. Before you start blaming other people, some of it’s your own fault." Weis said, according to the report. “They can judge my coaching and recruiting however they want. That is their right as fans. But to judge you as a person without knowing who you are, I never thought that was right.”
