N.C. State signs Dave Doeren to two-year contract extension
North Carolina State has extended coach Dave Doeren's contract two years, the school announced on Friday.
The extension, which runs through December 2019, will raise Doeren's annual guaranteed pay to $2.2 million from $1.8 million.
"My family and I are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of NC State, and for the tremendous support we’ve received from Chancellor (Randy) Woodson, Athletic Director Debbie Yow and the entire Wolfpack Nation," Doeren said in a news release. "From an outstanding coaching staff to visible progress in adding and maintaining the best facilities, we have so much momentum right now and I’m excited for the future of NC State football."
The Wolfpack improved their record to 8-5 in 2014 after finishing 3-9 in 2013, Doeren's first season as head coach.
This season N.C. State won four of its final five games, including a seven-point victory over UCF in the Bitcoin Bowl.
"When we hired Coach Doeren we realized he had the vision and commitment to elevate our program," athletic director Debbie Yow said. "He is an outstanding leader, is committed to building a championship-level program the right way, and positively impacts the lives of our student-athletes. We look forward with anticipation to what he and his staff will do over the next several years."
