Ohio State forward Sam Thompson deflected an inbounds pass by Penn State into the basket for two points on Wednesday.
With Penn State leading 29-23 at the 2:34 mark in the first half, Nittany Lions guard D.J. Newbill attempted to inbounds a pass under PSU's basket. The 6'7" Thompson was directly in front of him and positioned so that when he jumped to deflect Newbill's pass, the ball deflected off his right hand and banked into the basket off the backboard.
Penn State entered halftime with a 30-29 lead. Ohio State opened the second half with a 17-12 run over the first eight minutes. At the 11:49 mark, Thompson had scored only those two points with two rebounds and two steals.
