Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer said he feels "great" and was back to full strength heading into spring practice, which began on Tuesday, according to The Washington Post.

Beamer had throat surgery in December and had to coach while being limited from the press box during the Military Bowl. The 68-year-old said the experience made him look forward to getting back out there with the team this spring even more.

"When you get out there and you’re not a part of it, you kind of start thinking how much you want to be a part of it," he said.

The coach said he's "ready to roll" and believes his football team "has a chance to be good."

The Hokies finished 7-6 last season, reaching their 22nd straight bowl bid. In the Military Bowl, Virginia Tech defeated Cincinnati, 33-17.

The 2015 season will be Beamer's 29th year as head coach of the Hokies.
