Hoyas' D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera changes mind, will stay in school

Georgetown's D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera has changed his mind and will stay in school, Scout.com reported Tuesday.

Georgetown junior D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera has changed his mind and will remain at school instead of declaring for the 2015 NBA draft, Scout.com reported Tuesday. 

Smith-Rivera averaged 16.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game for the Hoyas this season. His averages were down slightly from his output during his sophomore season. 

Georgetown finished the 2014-15 season with a 21-11 record, finishing 12-6 in Big East play. The Hoyas made the 2015 NCAA tournament after missing the Big Dance in 2014. They lost in the Round of 32 to Utah.

On Mar. 31, Georgetown coach John Thompson III said Smith-Rivera would forego his senior season and declare for the 2015 NBA draft.

Smith-Rivera's departure would have marked the fifth notable player leaving the team. Georgetown will lose seniors Josh Smith, Mikael Hopkins, Jabril Trawick and Aaron Bowen to graduation.
