Report: West Virginia DL Kyle Rose tased, arrested after bar altercation

West Virginia defensive lineman Kyle Rose was tased and arrested Sunday in Morgantown.

West Virginia defensive lineman Kyle Rose was subdued by a stun gun and arrested Sunday, the Dominion Post reports.

Rose, a redshirt senior who started all 13 games for the Mountaineers in 2014, was reportedly charged with a number of misdemeanors, including public intoxication, disorderly conduct, obstructing and officer and battery on an officer.

According to the Dominion Post, police were called to a Morgantown bar, where Rose was reportedly shoving people. When Rose refused to stop and resisted arrest, the officers tased him.

“Officers grabbed him and attempted to place him into custody,” Officer C. D. Webster wrote in his report. “Mr. Rose was given several commands to stop resisting and he refused. Mr. Rose then struck [Officer K.] Murphey in the forehead and Mr. Rose was taken to the floor.

“While on the floor, Mr. Rose continued to resist, and I told him that he would be tased if he did not stop resisting. After giving several more commands to stop resisting he was tased. Once the Taser was deployed, Mr. Rose became compliant and was placed into handcuffs without resistance.”

"We are aware of the situation, and the matter will be handled internally," West Virginia coach DanaHolgorsen said in a statement, according to the Dominion Post.

In three seasons for the Mountaineers, Rose has played in 38 games, accumulating 62 tackles while primarily playing defensive tackle.
