UConn defeats Notre Dame for third consecutive national championship
The Connecticut Huskies clinched their third consecutive national championship and 10th championship overall by defeating the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Connecticut defeated Notre Dame Tuesday, 63–53, to earn its third consecutive national championship and its 10th championship overall.
Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis and Moriah Jefferson tied for the team lead with 15 points. Junior Breanna Stewart, the national player of the year, collected 15 rebounds and blocked four shots.
All of UConn's championships have come under head coach Geno Auriemma. Auriemma's 10 titles are tied with former UCLA men's coach John Wooden for the most all-time by a college coach.
Connecticut has never lost a championship game in its history.
