Graduate transfer quarterback Vernon Adams has been admitted to the University of Oregon, where he says he will play for the Ducks in 2015.

Graduate transfer quarterback Vernon Adams has been permitted to enroll in classes at the University of Oregon, where he says he will play for the Ducks in 2015. 

According to a report Monday in The Oregonian, Adams has been admitted to the school according to the school registrar. Eastern Washington University has not confirmed that Adams graduated from the institution. 

Adams declared his intent to transfer to Oregon in February, but in June told The Oregonianthat he had not finalized his degree at Eastern Washington despite walking in the school's June graduation ceremony. Students are permitted to walk in the ceremony while still completing their final coursework.

Despite being admitted to Oregon, Adams can only take part in summer conditioning workouts with team coaches once he's enrolled in classes, according to The Oregonian. He hasn't taken part in organized team workouts since February, the report said, on account of his decision to transfer earlier this year barring him from using Eastern Washington's athletic facilities. 

Despite the proliferation in college athletics of the graduate transfer rule, which allows athletes who complete a four-year degree to transfer to another school without sitting out a year, Adams is believed to be the first player who has used the rule to move from a smaller FCS school to a larger FBS school. 

Adding a wrinkle of intrigue to Adams' transfer is Oregon's 2015 schedule: The Ducks open the season on Sept. 5 in Eugene, Ore., against Eastern Washington, potentially pitting Adams against his former team.
