Pittsburgh WR Tyler Boyd recieves probation for DUI

Pittsburgh wide receiver Tyler Boyd received probation for “nonviolent, first-time offenders for driving under the influence.”

Pittsburgh wide receiver Tyler Boyd received probation for “nonviolent, first-time offenders for driving under the influence,” according to Adam Brandolph of the Tribune Review. 

Boyd, 20, was pulled over last month at 2:35 a.m., and was formally charged with a DUI on June 16. Brandolph reports that Boyd will be on probation for 12 months, and will have his driver's license suspended for 90 days.

From the Tribune Review:

Boyd told police he consumed two shots of an alcoholic beverage a short time earlier and was given a portable breath test that registered positive for alcohol, police said. A police report said an officer “smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage about (Boyd).” 

Konieczka said police charged Boyd with driving under the influence because his blood-alcohol level was above 0.02, the legal limit for drivers under the age of 21.

According to Brandolph, Boyd was suspended from team activities after the incident, but rejoined the team last week.

Last season, Boyd caught 78 passes for 1,261 yards, and became the first-ever ACC player to top 1,000 yards receiving as both a freshman and sophomore. 

Pittsburgh's first game of the season is Sept. 5 against Youngstown State.
