UNLV unveiled the new design for the Sam Boyd Stadium football field on Wednesday, revealing the turf will sport the iconic “Welcome to Las Vegas” logo.

SBNation.com first reported the field design.

Aside the program’s usual “Rebels logo,” the endzones will sport the ubiquitous Las Vegas signage. The yardage markers will also be painted in a font similar to that of the Stardust Casino and the 50-yard line marker will be painted over a grey star from the “Welcome to Las Vegas” signage. The same Las Vegas symbols will also be part of the Rebels’ redesigned uniforms for next season.

The new field at Sam Boyd Stadium is part of a $1.2 million renovation, replacing the old turf that had not been replaced in more than decade.

UNLV said first-year coach Tony Sanchez was consulted on the design, reports the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Sanchez previously coached at a number of Las Vegas high schools and is a six-time Nevada 4A state champion.

The Rebels finished 2–11 in 2014 and Bobby Hauck resigned as head coach after five seasons.
