Notre Dame DT Jarron Jones out for season with MCL injury
Notre Dame defensive tackle Jarron Jones is out for the 2015 season after injuring his MCL, reports Irish Illustrated.
According to the report, Jones hurt his right knee in practice after he "got rolled up." Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly told reporters Jones has a third-degree MCL injury.
Jones, a redshirt junior, was already making his way back from an injury from the end of last season. He suffered a Lisfranc injury against Louisville that kept him out of the last two games of 2014 and all of spring practice.
Last year, Jones started 11 games and recorded 40 tackles, including 1 1/2 sacks. He added seven quarterback hurries, two blocked field goals and one forced fumble.
Notre Dame, ranked No. 4 in Sports Illustrated's preseason poll, opens the 2015 season on Sept. 5 against Texas.
