Former Oklahoma State running back Tyreek Hill enrolls at West Alabama

Former Oklahoma State running back Tyreek Hill has enrolled in the University of West Alabama and will play Division II football.

Former Oklahoma State running back Tyreek Hill has enrolled in the University of West Alabama and will join their Division II football program immediately, the school announced on Wednesday

Hill is expected to be in uniform for UWA's season opener against Stillman College on Saturday.

“We hold a high standard for both our football program and our university,” West Alabama head football coach Brett Gilliland said in a release. “We believe Ty will be successful with the detailed support structure we have at West Alabama.”

Following an arrest for domestic violence charges, Hill was dismissed from Oklahoma State's football and track team in December 2014. Hill was accused of beating and strangling his eight-week pregnant girlfriend.

He took a plea deal with the Payne County district attorney's office and was given three years probation in addition to a 52-week batterer's course and several fines.

Last season, Hill rushed for 534 yards and had 31 catches for 281 yards with Oklahoma State. He ranked second in the nation with a combined 996 return yards. The week before his arrest, Hill returned a punt 92 yards for a touchdown against Oklahoma that tied the game with one minute remaining in the fourth quarter. The Cowboys went on to win the game 38-35 in overtime.

Hill also had a promising career as a track and field sprinter with personal bests of 10.19 in the 100-meter dash and 20.14 in the 200-meter dash.
