Kansas State quarterback Jesse Ertz will be out for “quite some time,” Wildcats coach Bill Snyder told reporters Monday.

Ertz left Kansas State's first game Saturday after only two plays with a knee injury. The redshirt sophomore was making his first career start.

“We will miss [Ertz]. We feel badly about the loss and he will be there,” Snyder said, according to Kansas.com. “He has been a wonderful individual for us, very representative of our value system, of our team and really developing as a leader. I am quite confident he will stay invested in what we are doing and will be very helpful to all of his teammates. We will move on.”

Junior Joe Hubener took over for Ertz in the Wildcats’ win over South Dakota. He completed nine of 18 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown.

Hebener will be the team's starter moving forward. Kansas State's next game is on Sept. 12 against Texas San Antonio.
