Virginia Tech QB Michael Brewer breaks collarbone against Ohio State

Virginia Tech senior quarterback Michael Brewer broke his left collarbone in the Hokies' 42-24 loss to Ohio State on Monday night.

Virginia Tech senior quarterback Michael Brewer broke his left collarbone in the Hokies’ 42–24 loss to Ohio State on Monday night.

Brewer was injured on a hard tackle by Ohio State’s Adolphus Washington. He was replaced by junior Brenden Motley ​with the Buckeyes leading 21–17 in the third quarter.

Virginia Tech announced after Brewer left the game that he would not be returning. The extent of the injury was first reported by ESPN’s Heather Cox, who spoke to Brewer on the sideline.

Hokies head coach Frank Beamer said after the game that Brewer will undergo surgery Tuesday and likely miss four to six weeks, and possibly as many as eight.

Before the injury, Brewer was 11 of 16 for 156 yards passing and two touchdowns.

A transfer from from Texas Tech, Brewer started every game for the Virginia Tech in 2014, including their upset win at Ohio State.
