Utah QB Travis Wilson injures left shoulder vs. Utah State

Wilson was replaced by Kendal Thompson.

Utah quarterback Travis Wilson exited Friday night's game vs. Utah State with a left shoulder injury and did not return to action as the Utes defeated their in-state rival 24–14.

Following a 38-yard run in the second quarter Wood fell to the ground and injured his left shoulder. Wilson remained on the field for a three-yard run on the next play, but fell again in the red zone. Wilson was replaced by fellow senior Kendal Thompson.

Both quarterbacks have a history of injuries with the team. Wilson was the starter early in 2013, but after an intracranial artery was discovered following a concussion in 2013, his future within the sport was in question. Thompson assumed the starting duties but later tore his ACL last November against Oregon. Wilson, who was cleared by doctors to return before the 2014 season, took on starting duties again.

Utah finished last season 9–4 before defeating Colorado State in the Las Vegas Bowl.

The team is ranked 25th in the AP poll following the first week of play, where Utah defeated Michigan at home. Wilson threw for 208 yards and ran for 53 yards and one touchdown.

Wilson was seen on the sidelines with an ice pack and sling on his shoulder.
