Kentucky defeats North Carolina in charity alumni game

The Kentucky Wildcats beat North Carolina 122–115 in a charity alumni basketball game.

Kentucky hosted rival North Carolina in a sold-out charity alumni basketball game on Sunday. With nine NBA draft picks on their side, the Wildcats led by as many as 21 points and came out on top in a 122–115 victory over the Tar Heels.

Golden State Warriors forward Harrison Barnes gave UNC a boost at the end of the game, scoring a game-high 39 points, but it was not enough to beat Kentucky. The Tar Heels, who had only three former NBA draft picks, had not shot of winning the game, Barnes said afterwards.

DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings had 33 points, 18 rebounds and six assists for Kentucky. The Wildcats made 17 3-pointers in total throughout the night and had former Player of the Year Anthony Davis as their coach.

Barnes suggested to Kentucky head coach John Calipari that next year the Wildcats visit Chapel Hill to raise even more money for charity.

Between Calipari's weekend fantasy camp and the alumni game, about $1.1 million was raised and donated to 17 various charities and causes.
