Tennessee linebacker Curt Maggitt out with “freak injury”
Tennessee redshirt linebacker/defensive end Curt Maggitt will be out for an extended period of time with a hip injury.
Tennessee head coach Butch Jones announced that redshirt linebacker and defensive end Curt Maggitt will be out for an extended period of time with a hip injury, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel.
Though he didn’t expand on the details of the injury, Jones called it “one of the most freak injuries I've ever been a part of.” Maggitt suffered the injury while playing on punt team.
More details about the timetable for Maggitt’s return will be available later this week.
Maggitt was named a second-team All-SEC linebacker last season and was a first-team preseason All-SEC pick this season. He logged 34 solo tackles last season and led the Volunteers with 11 sacks.
