No. 1 Ohio State (2–0) enters Week 3 after a 38–0 victory over Hawaii last Saturday. Running back Ezekiel Elliott ran for three touchdowns and finished with 101 yards on 27 carries for the defending national champions. Cardale Jones once again started at quarterback for the Buckeyes, but J.T. Barrett saw time under center for the last three series of the second quarter, going 8-for-15 with 70 yards, as well as one carry for seven yards.
Northern Illinois, also standing at 2–0, posted a convincing 57–26 win last Saturday against Murray State. In the win, quarterback Drew Hare was 29 of 38 for 358 yards and four touchdowns. The Huskies are the defending MAC champions.
