Pittsburgh (2–1) and Virginia Tech (2–2) will meet in Blacksburg, Va., for each team's first ACC matchup of the season.
Both the Panthers and the Hokies are coming off disappointing one-score losses in their last games.
Before its bye week, Pitt was defeated by the Iowa Hawkeyes 27–24 on a a 57-yard game-winning field goal by Marshall Koehn as time expired. In his first start for the Panthers, quarterback Nate Peterman threw for 219 yards and two touchdowns in the loss, while wide receiver Tyler Boyd added 10 catches for 131 yards on the day.
In their final non-conference game of the season, the Hokies were upset for the second straight year by East Carolina. In the 35–28 loss, quarterback Brenden Motley was 20-for-35 with 281 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
