Fresh off a thrilling 27–25 win against Middle Tennessee, Illinois (3–1) will host Nebraska (2–2) at Memorial Stadium on Saturday to begin Big Ten action.

Against the Blue Raiders, Illini quarterback Wes Lunt finished 29-of-49 with 238 yards and a touchdown, as Illinois avoided a last-second loss due to a missed Middle Tennessee field goal as the clock expired.

Last week, the Huskers defeated Southern Miss 36–28 behind quarterback Tommy Armstrong's 368 yards and three touchdowns. Nebraska sophomore kicker Drew Brown tied an NCAA record with five field goals in the first half, and junior receiver Jordan Westerkamp finished with a career-high 11 catches for 118 yards.

After a season-opening loss to BYU on a Hail Mary and a Week 3 overtime loss to Miami, Nebraska avoided its first 1–3 start since 1957 with its win against the Golden Eagles last week.
