Tennessee has dismissed receiver Pig Howard from the team.
Tennessee has dismissed receiver Alton “Pig” Howard from the team, head coach Butch Jones announced Wednesday.
Jones said Howard, who had been sidelined since Sept. 19 after sustaining a concussion against Western Carolina, was dismissed for “reasons unrelated to his injuries.” The senior wideout had been suspended for the season opener against Bowling Green for an unspecified violation of team rules.
Howard had just one catch for eight yards this season in his limited play. He recorded 54 catches for 618 yards and three touchdowns the last two seasons.
Tennessee (2–3) takes on Georgia (4–1) 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Knoxville.
