Tennessee defensive tackle Shy Tuttle has a broken fibula and torn ankle ligaments and will miss the rest of the season.
Vols head coach Butch Jones announced the news Tuesday, calling it a “big blow” to the team. Tuttle sustained the injury during the fourth quarter of Tennessee’s upset win over Georgia on Saturday and left the stadium on crutches.
Tuttle, a true freshman, has totaled ten tackles this season with a fumble recovery and a blocked kick. Rivals.com rated him the No. 55 prospect in the 2015 class and the No. 7 defensive tackle. He had begun receiving additional playing time in recent weeks.
Tennessee (3–3) has a bye week before traveling to face Alabama (5–1) on Oct. 24.
