Illinois shooting guard Kendrick Nunn will undergo surgery to repair a ligament in his left thumb and will be out for eight weeks.

Illinois shooting guard Kendrick Nunn will undergo surgery to repair a ligament in his left thumb and will be out for eight weeks, reports Gary Parrish of CBS Sports. 

According to the Chicago Tribune, Nunn suffered the injury during a practice last week. 

The junior has averaged 8.6 points and 1.5 assists in 68 games during his career at Illinois. Last season, Nunn increased his minutes per game to 30.2 from just under 20 minutes his freshman year. His 11.1 points per game was third on the team in 2014-2015.

Nunn’s is the latest in a string of injuries for the Illini. Point guard Tracy Abrams (achilles), forward Leron Black (knee), guard Jalen Coleman-Lands (leg) and guard Jaylon Tate (concussion) are all currently out.
