Watch: UCLA kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn hits 60-yard field goal
UCLA senior kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn etched his named in the school’s record books Saturday, nailing a 60-yard field goal just before halftime against Cal.
Fairbairn made the kick look easy, knocking it through the center of the uprights with plenty of room to spare. The kick is the longest in UCLA history by four yards. Chris Sailer, who is renowned as one of the top kicking coaches in the country, set the previous record with a 56-yard kick in 1997.
The field goal is also the second longest in Pac-12 history. Three kickers are tied for the longest kick in FBS history at 67 yards.
Fairbairn actually nailed a kick from 55 yards away just seconds before, however, that play was nullified after a false start. His kick gave the Bruins a 26–10 lead going into the half.
