Syracuse basketball offers walk-on spot to Gheorghe Muresan’s son
The Syracuse men's basketball program has offered a walk-on spot to the son of former NBA center Gheorghe Muresan, according to Muresan’s son’s high school.
Muresan, who was the tallest man to ever play in the NBA at 7’7”, was in the league for six years. The 44-year-old played with the Washington Wizards and New Jersey Nets.
His son, George, is currently a senior at St. Andrews School in Potomac, Md. The 6’8” forward averaged about eight points and nine rebounds in his junior season.
George attended basketball practice, watched the Orange football game and toured the Melo Center on Saturday, reports Donna Ditota of Syracuse.com.
“I definitely had fun,” Georgesaid. “I got to see the football game and the practice facility and I really liked it. I'd never seen anything like that before.”
