Who's back: G Davon Reed. Senior averaged 11.1 points per game and 4.1 rebounds last season; G Ja'Quan Newton. Junior averaged 10.5 points and 2.5 assists; F Kamari Murphy. Senior averaged 5.6 points and 6.0 rebounds.

Who's new: G Dejan Vasiljevic. Australian is a good shooter who could provide some offense as a freshman; G Bruce Brown. Freshman is 6-5 and high-energy. 190 Boston, Massachusetts.; G Rashad Muhammad, a 6-6 transfer who led San Jose State in scoring for two seasons.

The Skinny: Larranaga has only 10 scholarship players, including five newcomers, and must replace the top two scorers and leading rebounder from last season. But there's a solid nucleus with Reed, Newton and Murphy, and a strong freshman class that will immediately contribute. A soft non-conference schedule provides margin for error early in the season.
