Notre Dame defensive lineman Jarron Jones may be able to return from his MCL tear in time for postseason play, head coach Brian Kelly told the media during a press conference Tuesday.

If Jones’s rehabilitation stays on track, Kelly believes the senior could be back in four to six weeks, according to Keith Arnold of NBC Sports. That timetable would give Jones at least a few opportunities to practice with the team before a late December bowl or playoff game.

Jones sustained the injury on Aug. 14 in fall training camp, and was expected to miss the entirety of his senior season. He underwent surgery to repair the knee the following week.

The 6'5", 315-pound nose tackle started each of the first 11 games of the 2014 season for the Irish before sustaining a season-ending foot injury.

In 2014, Jones was tied for second on the team with 7.5 tackles for loss, just behind second-team AP All-American Jaylon Smith. He also recorded 40 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
