Arkansas State head coach John Brady resigned on Monday, effective at the end of the season.

Arkansas State head coach John Brady resigned on Monday, effective at the end of the season, reports the A-State Herald.

Brady, who has spent eight seasons at the helm of Arkansas State’s program, is 391–324 in his tenure as a Division I head coach.

“Over the last two or three days, I’ve thought long and hard about what I really want to do,” Brady, a 25-year Division I head coach, said. “I’ve talked to some close friends of mine in the coaching business and not in the coaching business. I met with Terry Mohajir today for an hour, and he is a great AD. I told him where I was. Regardless of how well we do this year, this is my last year here.”

Brady has helped Arkansas State to two 19-wins seasons, as well as two appearances in the Sun Belt tournament semifinals, but has never taken the Red Wolves to the NCAA tournament.

Prior to Arkansas State, Brady was the head coach at LSU for 10 seasons, and helped the Tigers earn six postseason berths and two SEC titles. He was named the SEC coach of the year twice.

Arkansas State is 1–1 to start the 2015–16 season. The Red Wolves will go on the road to face Savannah State on Wednesday.
