Florida Atlantic tied Florida with a strip-sack touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Florida Atlantic won’t go away quietly.
The Owls gave the Florida Gators all they could handle in Gainesville on Saturday. Trailing by seven, Florida Atlantic tied the game at 14 in the fourth quarter with a strip-sack and fumble recovery for a touchdown.
After Gators quarterback Treon Harris was hit on his blindside, the ball flew into the end zone, where Ocie Rose got to the ball first for the Owls. The sack was the Owls’ fourth of the game, and they recorded their fifth on the next drive.
Florida went on to win 20–14 in overtime.
The Owls are now 2–9. The Gators move up to 9–1 and are ranked No. 8 in the College Football Playoff rankings.
