Iowa State names Matt Campbell head coach
Iowa Statenamed Matt Campbell its new head coach Sunday.
Campbell just finished his fourth full season at Toledo, where he compiled a 35–15 record, including two conference division titles and two bowl wins. The Cyclones fired previous head coach Paul Rhoads on Nov. 22 after the team dropped to 3–8.
“Matt’s coaching and playing achievements are extraordinary, but we were even more impressed by his character, leadership and commitment to his family,” athletic director Jamie Pollard said in a statement. “I could not be more excited to welcome Matt, Erica and their children to the Cyclone Family. We are truly blessed to have one of the industry’s rising stars leading our football program.”
