Minnesota officials weren’t aware of inappropriate conduct by former AD

An investigation and audit of the University of Minnesota athletics department concluded that school officials did not have knowledge of inappropriate conduct by former athletic director Norwood Teague.

An investigation and audit of the University of Minnesota athletics department concluded that school officials did not have knowledge of inappropriate conduct by former athletic director Norwood Teague, reports the Associated Press. 

The investigation stems from accusations of sexual harassment against Teague made by two female university administrators. Teague resigned from his position at Minnesota immediately after the reports surfaced in August.

Minneapolis Star Tribune reporter Amelia Rayno soon after penned an article detailing her experiences being harassed by Teague, who was previously sued by a female employee for gender discrimination during his time at VCU.

Rayno interacted with Teague through her job as the Star Tribune’s college basketball reporter, but wrote that he made advances on her after learning she had broken up with her boyfriend.

The AP’s report did not find Minnesota at fault for hiring Teague despite the complaint from his time at VCU. 

Also, the report revealed that some athletes interviewed during the review lied to investigators. However, it did not specify what they lied about.
