Report: Oklahoma grants quarterback Trevor Knight full release

Oklahoma reportedly granted quarterback Trevor Knight a full release.

Oklahoma Sooner head coach Bob Stoops has granted quarterback Trevor Knight a full release, reports SoonerScoop.com’s Carey Murdock.

Knight is set to graduate at the end of the semester, meaning he will become eligible to play for the 2016 season.

Knight, a junior, played in six games this season, completing 55% of his passes while throwing for 305 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Knight lost his starting job to Baker Mayfield before the season began. Last season, Knight started in 10 games while missing three due to injury. He won the 2014 Sugar Bowl MVP after starting five games in 2013.

According to the report, Knight is interested in other Big 12 schools, and Stoops will not block him from going to a conference rival. Knight reportedly has spoken with Kansas State, Georgia, Oregon and SMU.

Despite not being named the starting quarterback, Knight was still voted as a team captain by his teammates. In his career with the Sooners, Knight has completed 57.1% of his passes for 3,424 yards, 25 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. He’s also rushed for a career 853 yards and eight scores.
