USC running back Tre Madden will not have an opportunity to finish his collegiate career with a trip to the Holiday Bowl after undergoing season ending knee surgery last week, reports Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times.

Madden entered the season with expectations of being an integral part of the USC rushing attack, but was slowed by knee soreness for much of the season.

He carried the ball 85 times for 452 yards and five touchdowns this season. Over his career, Madden rushed for 1,155 yards and eight touchdowns, averaging 5.2 yards a carry.

Madden's five–year career has been plagued by injuries. He tore his ACL in 2012 and suffered a season-ending turf toe injury in 2014.

With Madden slowed down this season, the Trojans witnessed the emergence of freshman running back Ronald Jones II, who rushed for 956 yards and eight touchdowns on 145 carries.
