Tulane QB Tanner Lee will transfer
Tulane quarterback Tanner Leeannounced Thursday that he will transfer.
Via Twitter, Lee said Tulane had granted his release, calling it the “hardest decision” of his life. The redshirt sophomore started 19 games in his two seasons with the team, throwing 23 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. The Green Wave went 3–9 in 2015, with Lee throwing for 1,639 yards, 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions and completing 51.8% of his passes.
His decision comes in wake of Tulane hiring Willie Fritz from Georgia Southern as its new head coach. Fritz prefers an option-style offense, which likely impacted Lee’s decision in terms of his perceived fit in the system.
“I want to wish (new Tulane athletic director) Mr. (Troy) Dannen, Coach Fritz and his staff the best of luck in the future," Lee wrote. "Green Wave Nation is in great hands. Roll Wave.”
