Four-star ATH Brandon Burton commits to UCLA
Four-star athlete Brandon Burton kicked off National Signing Day in style, committing to UCLA in a video released on Bleacher Report shortly after midnight early Wednesday.
Burton, long considered a lean to the Bruins, picked UCLA over Arizona, Florida State and USC, among others. The Gardena, Calif., native is rated the No. 13 athlete in the country and the No. 126 player overall, per Scout.com. Though he could play on either side of the ball, Burton is likely to at least start out at safety.
According to Scout, Burton “catches the ball as well as any receiver out west, has improved his speed and knows how to get open. He also has very good ball control and adjusts very well to the ball in the air. As a safety, Burton has the size, range, toughness and tackling ability to be an early impact player. He plays with an extremely high football IQ and shows very good football instincts. He also competes at a high level and is a natural leader.”
Burton becomes the 24th commitment in UCLA’s 2016 class, which is currently rated eighth in the country by Scout. The Bruins are in on several more highly rated prospects set to announce on National Signing Day, including Boss Tagaloa, Devin Asiasi and Mique Juarez.
