Northern Illinois's Kelvin Sigler joins South Alabama coaching staff
Northern Illinois cornerbacks coach Kelvin Sigler is joining the staff of South Alabama coach Joey Jones according to a source.
It’s a return for Sigler to his native Mobile, Ala., where he also had a 27-18 record as Blount High’s coach from 2008-11. This past season was Sigler’s third in his position at Northern Illinois.
Before Sigler’s time with the Huskies, he was a defensive analyst for his alma mater, Alabama, in 2012. Prior to being Blount High’s coach, he was defensive coordinator at Bob Jones High School in Madison, Ala. from 2004-07.
Prior to that, the 40-year-old Sigler was an assistant and head track and field coach at Greensboro (Ala.) High for two seasons. He was a cornerback at Alabama from 1995-98.
South Alabama had a 5-7 record this past season under Jones. He has a 42-35 record in his seven seasons with the Jaguars.
